Big Bad Buffalo at Che Cafe, 5/23/14

Big Bad Buffalo likes it weird.

This was the day that UCSD voted that the Che Cafe wasn’t worth keeping around. I hope that they can find a way work it out, because a music scene needs an incubator. There has to a place for teens to play shows and meet other young musicians in a safe, alcohol-free environment. Playing in bands teaches focus, goal-setting, working with others, commitment, integrity. Without a place to help nurture creativity, people will find other interests and our music will suffer.

These guys are so much better than my old high school band.

Deep Sea Thunder Beast, Tactical Ffever at Ken Club, 5/1/14

It’s been too long since I shot a show.

The Ken Club is really dim, so it was a good test to see if I still remember how to do this

Tactical Ffever is growing on me.

I’ve seen Justin Cota’s other band a couple times, but Deep Sea Thunder Beast is heavier, sludgier, and darker.
