Dinner at Nine Ten, 2/14/11
She looks exactly the same as as the girl I met in New York, only now when I see her across the room, I know she's mine. To celebrate the night I first told her I loved her, we went out for a nice dinner at one of those superfancy restaurants, Nine Ten. Click on a photo to go to the full gallery.
Our four-course meal began with tuna tartare for me, and lobster for her.
It was at t his point we noticed how the wine service was slightly lagging behind the food service. There were a couple courses where we didn't get our wine pairings until after we'd already had our first bites of that course. It's a small thing, but considering this was the most expensive meal we'd ever had as a twosome, it was something that stuck out.
My mushrooms were topped with delicate potato chips, although I remember them using a much more elegant description.
My lamb was cooked to medium, just like I ordered. The beets were wonderful too.
Heather's NY Steak was very good, but I don't like to order steak in a restaurant unless it's a steakhouse. I can make a great steak on my grill at home without resorting to chipotle and chocolate reductions and all that stuff.
For dessert, Heather had apple ice cream with ginger mousse. The ginger flavor was a bit overwhelming. I has the Meyer Lemon parfait with huckleberry sorbet. Which was delicious.
By now were were full and just a bit tired from the wine and the late 8:45pm seating. At the very end we were served three small confections which we fought over just a little too hard, considering the occasion.
