He spoke to the crowd for about 90 minutes about the virtues of a six-string bass, chordal development, and harmony. The main takeaway was that you should only fill your head with new information for 15 before taking a 5 minute break. You can retain more since your brain never gets too tired and stops benefiting from more work.
Todd took as many questions as we had, and was a thoughtful and organized presenter. He played plenty of examples of how an extended range bass can hold its own as a melody instrument while providing its own accompaniment.
Thanks to George and Chris at Bass San Diego for the opportunity, and to Todd Johnson for being a good sport and ignoring my shutter clicks.
