Sleep Lady, Archons, Kuntz at Tin Can Ale House, 11/26/10
I'm not really sure what Kuntz is at this point, but they still have some songs in them that don't fit into their 100 other bands, so why not make it 101? But they are yet again a bass-less band. Too many of these in this town.

At least until their brand new bass player learns the songs.
On the wall behind Jason, there's a moody portrait of local photographer Alex Kacha.
--------------------------------------------
I haven't seen the Archons in a long time, but they always put on a brutal show.
I didn't like the Tin Can's new dim lighting scheme last time I shot here, but this time it was exploding in color, like the cover of an Iron Maiden album.
And they played a bunch of new songs too, so maybe there's another album in the works.
----------------------------------------
This would be Sleep Lady's last show of 2010, so do yourself a favor and keep warm with their new release, "Fighting For the Year".
I don't understand the shoegaze style some reviewers have called them. Just because they play arching instrumentals doesn't lump them in with every other band with no singer. How about just calling them rewarding after a few listens? It doesn't matter how much they look at their feet.
Sarah cut a statuesque figure, playing the Ice Goddess bassist. Off stage though, she's super sweet.
I met their new drummer, Francis, and he stepped right in and took over where Jim Benuska left off. He's one of the Kata alumni I mentioned in a post last week. Once he has some time to inject his own style into the music, it's going to be even better.
Just like Sleep Lady's music, there's a lot more going on if you pay attention to the details.
There are five members in the band, of course, but Mario had to stand off the stage, so it was to dark to get any non blurry shots of him. Damn shame too, because it was his birthday and he was sporting a great pencil 'stache. It wasn't as good as my "Inspector Clousou", but it still deserved a photo I guess.
