Sunrise in La Jolla, 11/21/10

I got up early on Sunday to shoot the full moon setting just before dawn. Clouds rolled in at just the right time, but the fantastic colors I was hoping for never materiaized. The soft morning light is great for beaches, despite minimal color.
It's intriguing to me how much effect shutter speed has on the look and feel of water. A half-second shutter reveals a dangerous and chaotic sea.
I met up with Arun for this shoot, who I met a month ago at my Bird Rock visit. He's even more dedicated to twilight than I am, which gives me motivation to get out there more often.
We also ran into Raja (sp?) who had the same idea we had. Arun shot with him a few years ago. Small world.
