Dwolves, Swim Party, White Apple Tree at Casbah, 11/4/10

I can’t believe it’s been three weeks already, but Rosey had her SDialedIn anniversary party earlier this month, and I brought my two favorite ladies with me to celebrate- my wife and my mom. As always, click on a photo to go to the full gallery.

We got there just as D/Wolves started playing.

With all the running around I was doing I didn’t have too much time to listen to them, but they sounded a lot better in a club that has an actual sound system. They were too loud for the WCT when I saw them there a couple months ago.

The boys and girl of Swim Party are always a favorite of mine to shoot since they bring lights.

I’ll be kind to Natalie and not embarass her by showing her face. We photogs get nervous when the camera is turned on us.

My mom liked the music, but couldn’t understand why it has to be so loud.

White Apple Tree headlined, even though I’ve never heard of them. Maybe that’s because I’m not into the 80’s era synth-pop that the hipster kids are playing these days.

The new gels in the Casbah lights really brighten things up.

Happy anniversary, Rosey!  You’re always my go-to blog for news and upcoming shows. I’m honored to be able to contribute to your site.

I got up early on Sunday to shoot the full moon setting just before dawn. Clouds rolled in at just the right time, but the fantastic colors I was hoping for never materiaized. The soft morning light is great for beaches, despite minimal color.

It’s intriguing to me how much effect shutter speed has on the look and feel of water. A half-second shutter reveals a dangerous and chaotic sea.

I met up with Arun for this shoot, who I met a month ago at my Bird Rock visit. He’s even more dedicated to twilight than I am, which gives me motivation to get out there more often.

We also ran into Raja (sp?) who had the same idea we had.  Arun shot with him a few years ago. Small world.

Kata at Ruby Room, 11/3/10

So my computer died and was in the shop for most of this month, and I’m just now catching up. It was still a busy time shooting as well as hosting a parents’ visit too. On the way to pick them up from the airport, I stopped at the Ruby Room to see Ben play drums with Kata. I only had time to shoot a couple songs, hopefully next time I can actually listen.
