Birthday Fun 11/02/08
We woke up early to catch the sunrise. I was really excited that my birthday happened to land on the end of daylight Savings this year, making my day last 25 hours! My sunrise charts must not have taken it into account, because when we got up, it was already light outside. Crap...

I've been meaning to get a good shot of the San Diego skyline for months, and every time I went, the light wouldn't cooperate. I thought it was going to be a bust this time too, since the light was perfect while we were driving down, and it doesn't normally stay perfect for more than a few minutes at a time. This was shot with my ND filter and polarizer, which make for a great combo, giving me about 12 stops light reduction (3.6 density, cutting the light down about 4000x). Practically every photographer shoots the skyline here, at the end of Orange Avenue on Coronado Island.
After that, we went back to the Embarcadero area for more water-blurring fun.

I totally stole this composition of the kissing giants from a fellow SDSLR'er.
